Building Science Assistant Project Manager

Description:

Southern Energy Management, North Carolina’s leading provider of energy efficiency and solar power services, seeks a full-time building science assistant project manager to support our fast-growing commercial building science team in Morrisville, NC. The assistant project manager will execute project work including: Assisting in large building air barrier consulting, testing and building thermography inspections and other field tests. The consulting work includes, design review and construction inspections. The air leakage testing includes logistics, equipment setup and operation and data recording. This role is also responsible for customer communications, task management and drafting reports. A strong commitment to sustainable energy and dedication to the vision of SEM is a must.

Job Duties:

• Conduct building science and air leakage related testing in the field.
• Provide verbal and written communications with building owners, architects, engineers, general contractors and sub trades. .
• Draft and proofread technical emails, reports and related documents, including design reviews, construction inspections and air leakage test reports.
• Research methods and systems to accomplish building science objectives
• 20%- 40% travel should be anticipated.
• Must be able to move, lift and setup test equipment such as blower door fans weighing up to 40 pounds.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

• Some level of commercial construction and/or building science experience.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills
• Demonstrated ability to work accurately, follow instructions/schedules/timelines and handle multiple priorities and personalities
• Solid computer and math skills: Proficiency with MS Office Outlook, Word and Excel
• Strong organizational, communication and writing abilities;
• Able to prioritize and accomplish tasks independently while also working within a supportive team atmosphere

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

• Commercial building construction experience in conducting design reviews and performing construction inspections and testing.
• Building science and or energy audit experience, particularly work with blower doors and air leakage testing and diagnostics.
• Experience with construction management, plan reading and ability to perform area takeoffs from building plans
• Work with subject matter experts on technical subjects is a positive
• Familiar with Salesforce: A customer relationship management (CRM) & cloud computing software tool
