Description:

The CMR is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs designed to
increase the recruitment and improve the retention of students from multicultural backgrounds. The CMR
will assist in all phases of admission while working within an assigned territory. Major responsibilities include territory management activities, maintaining a contact management system which includes phone,
email, texting and other social media outlets, interviewing prospective students, evaluating candidates for admission and assisting staff with on-campus admission events.

Works under the supervision of the Director of Admission and in collaboration with the Vice President for Admission and Financial Aid.

Duties:

1. Develop, implement and coordinate all multicultural recruitment and retention efforts at the University.
2. Solicit support from other campus offices and student organizations to assist DePauw in attracting and retaining high-ability multicultural students.
3. Travel eight to ten weeks in an assigned territory to conduct presentations at high schools, participate in college fairs and conduct regional interviews with candidates for admission.
4. Evaluate application credentials and determine admission decisions for multicultural students and for students applying from an assigned territory.
5. Complete all necessary follow-up activities designed to enhance and maintain an applicant’s interest in DePauw.
6. Coordinate follow-up activities with prospective students and their parents.
7. Plan and conduct appropriate off-campus follow-up activities and attend regional events for prospective students, parents, alumni, school and independent counselors.
8. Strengthen relationships and coordinate recruitment activities with outreach programs and community based organizations that assist in the recruitment of underrepresented students.
9. Assist with on-campus and weekend recruitment events.
10. Engage alumni in the recruitment and retention of multicultural students.
11. Complete required recruitment related reports.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and three-five years of admission experience recruiting multicultural students.
2. A commitment to the values associated with a nationally respected, liberal arts education.
3. Must possess superior organizational skills, strong written and oral communication skills, a high degree of energy, strong initiative and must be able to work as a team player in an enrollment management setting.
4. Ability to think creatively about recruitment and marketing challenges, be able to hold self accountable for assignments and goals, and play close attention to details.
5. Must possess a valid driver’s license.

ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
1. Fluency in Spanish is a preference.
2. Master’s Degree highly desirable.
