| The primary area of responsibility is to ensure optimization of the real-time and day ahead power portfolio. The Electric Trading Analyst is responsible for performing activities related to the analysis and optimization of the short term power portfolio. The Electric Trading Analyst is expected to work in conjunction with the Golden Spread Market Operations team as well as the Aces Power Marketing trading staff. Golden Spread is part owner of Aces Power Marketing and all real-time transactions are executed by Aces Power Marketing. This position will also be responsible for real-time market intelligence and will coordinate strategy as needed with Aces Power Marketing to ensure maximum portfolio optimization. Other related Market Operations functions will be assigned as needed. The Electric Trading Analyst will work closely with the GSEC Manager, Market Operations. The position will be located at the GSEC corporate offices located in Amarillo TX. |
Duties: |
o Interact daily with the Aces Power Marketing real-time trading personnel to assure accurate and complete optimization in those areas.
o Continually analyze all Open Access Same-Time Information Systems in the region to pick up publicly available market information.
o Analyze and determine whether real-time power position is the most optimal for each hour & recommend any necessary changes
o Explain real-time market occurrences.
o Each day actively participate in the development of the Day Ahead Market resource and load plan for the Cooperative.
o Participate in transacting weekly power purchases and sales.
o Make continuous recommendations to the Manager of Market Operations to adjust daily market activity strategy to meet the Cooperative’s two key objectives to minimize energy prices for system loads and maximize margins from excess resources and purchase power contracts.
o Develop and maintain reports, graphs and charts representing specific data as needed.
o Work flexible hours during certain times of the year to assure key times of the day are being optimized.
o Internally must provide data to support various business functions and coordinate with:
-Market Operations
-Production Group
-Accounting & Billing
-Others as needed

Qualifications: |
o 2 years of experience is preferred but not required. BBA in Finance, Economics or MBA required. Other relevant college degrees could be considered.
o This position requires a thorough knowledge of:
-Graphing and reporting techniques,
-Basic finance and data analysis,
-Current data analysis tools,
-Microsoft Excel, Visual Basic, Access Word, and PowerPoint,
o This position requires a basic understanding of:
-XML language,
-Trading concepts,
-Profit and loss statements,
-Electric industry principles and understanding a plus
