Description:

Receives, stores, and issues materials, supplies and equipment, takes inventory, makes scheduled and unscheduled deliveries to departments including SCC locations, and assists with special projects necessary for the function of the department and Health System. Assists the buyer or fills in for the buyer in purchasing assignments of a complex nature, requiring experience in various commodities of supplies & equipment, and purchasing policies and procedure for the entire Health System. May purchase stock & non-stock items at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, and specification requirements with consideration given to available contracts. Confer with vendors on correct product numbers, price updates, invoicing issues, etc. Communicate with System departments on their requisitions and outstanding orders. Follow-up on overdue Purchase Orders when necessary.

Duties:

Maintains a good hospital image and supplier relations through many daily business contacts and appearance.

Recommends to the Standard and Product Evaluation (Safety) Committee new or different materials which are of better quality, greater procurability or which can be obtained at a lower cost.

May perform clerical duties including the processing of acknowledgments form vendors, closing out all purchase orders against receiving documents.

Keeps intended departments advised with respect to lead-time required to obtain critical materials.

Searches continually for improved and/or less costly materials and supplies within the classifications assigned.

Drop off and pickup necessary items from local businesses as needed.

Edits and reviews all appropriate departmental requisitions.

Expedites and follows-up on orders placed on a regularly scheduled basis to insure arrival of products on a timely basis.

Works to establish and maintain par levels, addition and deletion of stock items and routing of emergency deliveries and product substitutions and vendor delivery schedules.

Performs the duties of peers as required during their absence.

Maintains safety and security of IV Solutions and Medications when working in restricted/secured areas of the Hospital to perform job duties.

Maintains safety and security when handling Hazardous Chemicals, materials and wastes when working in restricted/secured areas of the Hospital to perform job duties.

Unpacks items to be received by stores.

Counts, weighs, or otherwise measures the quantity of all incoming supplies.

Ascertains condition of incoming supplies and notes discrepancies or damaged goods.

Assists with inventory count as needed for different times throughout the year.

Takes items from stock to fill requisitions and delivers goods to requisitioning departments.

Keeps the store area clean and orderly at all times.

Counts, weighs, or otherwise measures the quantity of all incoming supplies.

Responsible for checking outdated supplies in the Storeroom and PAR Level areas.

Assists in maintaining inventory levels on all nursing units.

Packages & ships outgoing cartons via approved methods.

Questions and/or rejects those incoming cartons that were not approved or are considered dangerous to be brought into the facility.

Assists Buyer with Purchasing as needed.

Delivers all inbound receiving to requesting department including all Health System off-site locations.

Demonstrates ability to present ideas and information in a concise, effective and interpersonally appropriate manner through written and oral forms.

Qualifications:

Education: B.S. or B.A. preferred in Business Administration.

Experience: Specific healthcare purchasing experience, preferred; three to five years purchasing experience; inventory management experience. Microsoft Office experience, advanced computer & software knowledge are required. Good people skills are critical in this position.

Licenses/Certification: Must posses a valid Colorado Drivers license. Maintenance of current CPR or BLS.
