Description:

Savage Services Corporation, an established materials management company, is seeking a Site Safety Coordinator who will be responsible for the overall safety of our employees, for all facilities/assets pertaining to the coke unit, rail switching operations and loadout system which Savage operates, and maintain compliance with the customer and their safety standards.. This operation is located within the Motiva Refinery in Port Arthur, TX near Beaumont. At this operation, we cut and empty material contained within large silos called Coke Drums, gather the material called Petroleum Coke with overhead cranes into rail cars that is hauled away to another site for ship loading or other means of transport. In this facility, Savage also has 3 Locomotives that we use to handle all of the Rail movements for the Refinery, in order to keep all of the Units on schedule and products moving.

Duties:

Responsibilities:
Including but not limited to the following:
• Ensure that the operation promotes positive safety culture integral to each site while providing “Best Value No Worry” service to each customer
• Implement and facilitate training programs specific to site and customer requirements
• Help instill the Savage Safety Specialist and Lead Safety Specialists program throughout the operation
• Assist operation‘s safety teams in the development and writing of safety procedures
• Anticipate, identify, and evaluate, hazardous conditions and practices
• Develop hazard control designs, methods, procedures, and programs
• Implement, administer, and advise, others on hazard control programs
• Measure, audit, and evaluate, the effectiveness of hazard control and safety programs

Qualifications:

Skills/Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have experience in one or more of the following areas:
• Must be hands on and not afraid to get dirty
• Ability to communicate clearly on several different levels
• Technical writing skills and familiarity with occurrence reporting and root cause analyses
• Set an example for safety, cleanliness, and environmental compliance and responsibility
• Able to motive, inspire, and coach others, to maximize safe behaviors
• Excellent computer skills
• Passionate about Safety

Industry Background/Experience:
Ideal candidate will have experience in One or more of the following areas:
• Safety and Health Program Management
• Safety, Health & Environmental Laws, Regulations and Standards
• System and Process Safety
• Accident , Investigation and Analysis
• Industrial Processes
• Railroad knowledge and Safety is a plus
• Understanding of U.S. regulatory environment programs
• OSHA, EPA, FRA and other State and Federal programs
• HAZWOPER
• Safety Council

General Experience/Requirements:
• Associate’s degree in safety discipline preferred. Could be environmental science, safety engineering but historical job focus needs to be primarily safety. Petrochemical and/or refinery experience is a must. Minimum of 3 years for Associate’s degree, minimum of 5 for no Associate’s degree.
• Strong field experience is safety program management – i.e. safety audits, incident investigation, Root Cause Analysis, JHA/JSA development, PPE
• Safety program development – must be able to interpret regulations and be able to practically put into action.
• Training experience Must understand the oil refining process and culture that comes with it
• Ability to work outside in any condition
• Work Schedule Mon – Friday 7:00 to 4:00; On call 24/7 7 Days a week
