Description:

Follows and creates products from original concept through to release and ultimately to end of life. General responsibilities include: industry analysis to determine customer need, value proposition development, business case / plan development, alpha/beta test management, representation of the marketing group during the product development process to interface with regulatory, operations and engineering. Also responsible for establishing marketing launches, training programs and trade show presentations.

Works with third parties to manage high tech development through partnerships and contractual arrangements. Develops OEM strategies with senior management for long term growth opportunities. Based on trends in linac technology makes recommendations for supportive products that cover the full range of positioning solutions.

Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. (Other duties may be assigned.)

1. DEVELOP BUSINESS CASES FOR NEW PRODUCTS AS REQUIRED: Based on either ideas from the organization or from customers, conduct the required industry research and analysis to develop business cases for product introduction into the innovation process.

2. MANAGE NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT, WORKING WITH ENGINEERING, REGULATORY AND OPERATIONS: During the development process, the general manager will take part in all meetings regarding the status of a particular project. All clinical decisions and evaluations with engineering will be the responsibility of the general manager. Raising issues and resolving them before release with operations and regulatory will be key requirements. Involvement in the CO (Change Order) process as needed.

3. ALPHA / BETA PROGRAM MANAGEMENT FOR ALL PRODUCTS: The general manager will work with customers to assure that the proper features have been incorporated into the products being developed. Working with engineering, the product manager will develop timelines and milestones to determine what must be accomplished before actual product release.

4. MARKETING LAUNCH DEVELOPMENT: Development of sales promotion concepts and sales aids to gain market share and combat competitive tactics. The marketing launch will include strategies for market introduction worldwide, including training, special workshops, CE courses, etc. Provide high-level sales support for domestic sales force and international distributors.

5. FINANCIAL AND STRATEGIC PLANNING: Forecasting for the five product families in the patient positioning line - consumables, couchtops (including UCT), hardware, SBRT, OEM). Reporting and analysis of the product families to the executive team. Strategic planning of future funnels, based on clinical needs, for all five product families. Must develop relationships with key hospitals and facilities. Manage product management budget relating to positioning solutions and staffing.

6. TRADE SHOW INTRODUCTION: Working with the rest of marketing, the general manager will help determine what is needed for product introductions at the major tradeshows throughout the year, and will also take part in any “road shows” or local meetings determined to be important to the company.

7. MARKET INTELLIGENCE: SURVEY END-USERS TO UNDERSTAND NEEDS, APPLICATIONS, COMPETITIVE PRESSURES, AND IDENTIFIES OBSTACLES TO SEAMLESS PRODUCT DELIVERY: Conducts end-user surveys/interviews to determine effectiveness of products and services. Closely monitors competitive market activity, evaluating competitive strategies. Develops long-term “value-added” strategies to insulate against competition and ensuring products meet or exceed customer expectations.

8. MANAGES AND DIRECTS HIGH-LEVEL OEM RELATIONSHIPS : As CIVCO’s core competency does not include many of these technologies, we must reach out and select the right partners while maintaining control and reasonable leverage on the products as they come to market. Long term strategy and partnering are required.

Qualifications:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (BA) or Master’s degree in a related field – experience in Radiation Oncology industry required with a minimum of 5 yrs preferred, along with significant knowledge of Patient Positioning Solutions. Business acumen to drive arrangements and make recommendations is critical – MBA is preferred.

Other Skills & Abilities

1. Understand trends in Radiation Oncology technology.

2. Able to evaluate programs from a business perspective, developing balance sheets and financial evaluations to assess product profitability.

3. Participate in all aspects of marketing organization requirements and deliverables.

4. Execute training for both internal and external customers, worldwide.

5. Make public presentations as required and take part in trade shows and educational programs.
