Description:

The Security Guard provides service support tech functions to include: security, safety, patient transport, conference room set-up and light maintenance for patients, employees and visitors. Responsible for protecting hospital building, assets, and premises as assigned.

Duties:

• Responds and assists with all disaster codes, request for patient transport, conference room set-up and light maintenance.

• Patrols hospital buildings and floors on an hourly basis to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and intruders. Secures and/or unlocks offices and facilities. Secures patient valuables or los and found articles.

• Reports safety and/or fire hazards or security violations. Participates in investigations; maintains records and prepares incident reports and other documents pertinent to service support tech activities. Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.

• Monitors conduct of visitors on hospital premises; confronts unauthorized persons for questioning as needed. Responds to inquiries for advice or assistance from hospital personnel, students, and visitors; provides restraints to psychiatric patients as needed. Escorts and monitors personnel to parking lots and hospital buildings.

• Controls parking and traffic flow; enforces parking regulations. Monitors parking and employee parking lots at required times. Enforces hospital smoking policy.

• Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educations programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops. Attends meetings as required.

• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications:

• Must be able to effectively communicate in English.

• Must be able to follow instruction to complete task.

• Minimum Education: HS Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)

• Minimum Experience: 1-3 years institutional experience in a security or service support tech operation.

• Valid Texas Driver’s License
