Description:

This is a seasonal position from May 13 to Oct 1 POSITION SUMMARY: Serve food and beverages to guests of Paradise Inn dining room. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: All food and beverage equipment, calculator, cork screw and Aloha point of sale system. NATURE AND SOURCE OF SUPERVISION: Receives working direction from the Paradise Inn Dining Room Manager.

Duties:

KEY JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES: • Promotes the spirit and intent of Guest Services Hospitality Standards. • Follow all laws, health codes as set forth by Federal and/or State laws or codes (whichever applies). • Meet, greet and seat guests as needed when dining room opens according to seating chart. • Know dining room menu as well as daily specials; be able to describe same to guests in accordance with Guest Services standards. • Know wine list and be able to recommend appropriate wines to accompany entrees. • Take orders from guests and follow prescribed procedures in placing orders with cook and pantry lines. • Carry food to wait station in dining room using plate covers and large oval tray; serve food to guests in accordance with GSI standards. • Perform side duties in accordance with Manager's direction. •May be required to take a shift as bartender or lobby cocktail server.     Performs such other related duties as directed or required.

Qualifications:

PREREQUISITES: • 21 years or older. Education: High School Diploma; secondary education preferred. Must be able to provide a current Washington State MAST certification and food handler's card within 30 days.  PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS: • One-year similar experience in fine dining room with tray service preferred. Knowledge of alcoholic beverages and wines preferred.  PERSONAL QUALITIES AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to guests, supervisors and employees. Must be able to write legibly as well as read and understand directions and instructions. Appearance must be in compliance with company guidelines;  must provide company approved slip rsistant shoes.  Will be required to perform diverse physical tasks. Must be able to stoop, bend, grasp, kneel, handle, reach and squat. Extensive walking on hardwood floors. Good physical energy, stamina, and agility. Must withstand exposure to wet floors. Must be able to continuously lift and lower a serving tray weighing approximately 25 pounds without assistance. Must be service and safety oriented. Must possess a sense of awareness, timelines, urgency, humor, and common sense.  Must be able to adapt to the isolation of park life.
