Description: | Provide in-home support services to families and their sons or daughters with autism under the supervision of Area Team Leader.
Our office covers the entire 24-county area – Barry, Barton, Bates, Cedar, Dade, Henry, Jasper, Lawrence, McDonald, Newton, St. Clair, Vernon, Christian, Dallas, Douglas, Greene, Hickory, Laclede, Ozark, Polk, Stone, Taney, Webster, Wright. The candidate must be able to travel to each of these areas. | Duties: | Provide family support services to families as requested: evaluate individual in classroom setting or other settings, accompany family to doctor, dentist appointments, consult with individuals program, including school, job site, workshop, day program, attend IP, and IEP meetings at parent’s request
Support families in unpredictable situations
Attend meetings as assigned
Submit monthly reports including: progress reports, mileage, daily activity, expenses, time sheets, and other documentation
Keep in close contact with Service Coordinator and other professionals working with the client
Provide community inclusion as appropriate, and approved by Area Team Leader
Provide family connection meetings, social groups and sibshops in assigned area
Network and establish positive relationships with cooperating agencies and organizations in the community.
Attend professional development activities, such as conferences and inservices
Other duties as assigned
| Qualifications: | Must have chauffeur’s license, car, auto insurance and good driving record.
Must maintain current certifications in CPI/MANDT, CPR and First Aid
Familiarity and/or some knowledge of individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities useful
Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Internet, and Email)
Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and written, with team members, parents, and other professionals in the field and maintain confidentiality of information
Bachelor’s Degree in human services and/or related field required.
Experience working within social service preferred.
Must be motivated and able to work with minimal spervision
Must be willing and able to work evening hours, as necessary and requested
Must have knowledge of what an IEP is and the laws surrounding IEPs.
Ability to work closely as a team with staff and other professionals
