Description:

To provide quality internal and external member service to resolve the delinquency status of accounts by performing general office duties that support the performance and goals of Risk Management. Inclusive is controlling the centralized tasks of the repossession of vehicles under the terms of MECU loan policy.

Duties:

• Assists members in person and on the telephone.

• Handle all functions of transferring and reversing co-liability loans.

• Prepare letter for co-makers, upon request, showing the amount they paid on a defaulted co-liability loan.

• Fax information to repossession agency to initiate or cancel repossession of vehicles.

• Send the redemption letter to member after repossession of vehicle.

• Notify repossession agency when member has paid all delinquent payments and vehicle can be released.

• Annotate member’s account regarding the repossession and storage fees after a vehicle has been repossessed.

• Contact repossession agency for auction bids and forward information to management for approval of bid, then inform repossession agency of credit union’s decision.

• Prepare titles for sale of vehicle when member has not redeemed account.

• Control the posting of auction checks.

• Prepare and mail “Protect your credit letter” once automobile has been sold at Auction and funds are received and applied to balance due on vehicle loan.

• Maintain an Excel spreadsheet on all repossession activity.

• Handle correspondence in reference to members who are in debt management programs such as CCCS or Genus.

• Send notifications on closed VISA accounts returned to MECU for collection from MECU’S Visa Card Service when account has fallen 90 days delinquent and Credit Card privileges are revoked.

• Process notifications from PSCU to transfer funds from share account to VISA.

• Prepare and forward payoff figures to Retirement Systems on retired and resigned employees withdrawing their retirement funds to satisfy their MECU debts.

• Prepare and submit claims on defaulted vehicles that have forced place insurance.

• Process checks and letters from the Callipay System and process VISA payments.

• Handle credit bureau corrections through E-Oscar.

• Prepare month end reports such as the repossession chart, callipay chart, and the Soldiers & Sailors report.

• Balance terminal at the end of the day.

• Cross train to perform all other Collection Dept. procedures.

• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Position requires a High School Diploma and minimum one-year clerical experience. Lending or collections background preferred.

• Must be proficient in the use of PC applications including Word and Excel.
• Must have demonstrated ability to handle members under stressful situations with patience and tact.
• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to cross sell Credit Union products and Services.
• Demonstrated ability to professionally represent the Credit Union.
• Demonstrated problem solving and decision making ability.
• Demonstrated ability to listen patiently and attentively to member inquiries, problems and complaints.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills.
• Highly developed work ethics.
