Description: | The Vice President for Capacity Building is responsible for optimizing Nonprofits First’s broad array of education, leadership and management support services to achieve the most positive outcomes for our clients. The vice president leads a client-centered assessment and “total solutions” based approach to capacity building.
The position reports to the CEO and provides key leadership in directing the strategic agenda for the organization with regard to tactics to achieve financial sustainability and deliver a comprehensive product line that demonstrates nonprofit management excellence.
The vice-president coordinates organizational team members in creating innovative and integrated solutions intended for long-term client results for 1) sustainability, 2) leadership and educational knowledge and expertise in nonprofit management and the 3) effective and efficient delivery of resources to their clients.
| Duties: | Serves as a senior organization officer providing strategic, innovative, and insightful input to the CEO and board regarding the current and future direction of Nonprofits First.
Leads a team of professional educators and administrators delivering the Total Solutions capacity building model to clients through:
Aggressive account management of an agency pipeline of prospective clients; A coordinated array of core competency-based education and professional development programs that offer a rich, integrated mix of traditional courses, online content, and nonprofit certification programs to nonprofit executives, managers, volunteers, and board leaders; serves as a key organizational leader for delivering the Florida Nonprofit Conference; Professional consulting services with internal staff and a consulting services program.
Monitors and guides ongoing alignment of Nonprofits First business process systems to optimize effective and efficient business systems in a fast-paced growth environment.
Serves as an external representative of Nonprofits First as needed to identify client needs; promotes NPF services and support; works in collaboration with partners and funders for the maximum use of community resources for client benefit.
Nonprofits First operations related to Board management and services; corporate records and filings; facilities and meetings arrangement; coordination with Financial Management Resources with regard to disbursements and check receipts; support to CEO; Community Meetings; supervision of administrative support team providing organization-wide services; and support to management of database integrity.
Directs development of organizational priorities including specific division’s operational plan, annual budget, outcomes and staff performance evaluations.
Aligns programs and events to support Nonprofits First Strategic Objectives and to work collaboratively with all divisions to provide integrated client solutions.
Ensures marketing and media coverage for all Capacity Building programs.
Prepares divisional reports as required by the CEO, board and funders.
Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations.
Serves as public advocate for the nonprofit sector.
Carries out other duties as assigned by the CEO
| Qualifications: | Master’s degree supplemented by 7-10 years of experience in senior management, program development, organizational development, including budget oversight, planning and leadership responsibility (Nonprofit experience is desired)
Extensive experience in management, strategic planning, education and/or consulting services; Familiarity and/or experience with curriculum development and leadership
Ability to lead a team in research, innovation and application of creative solutions to programs and services
Ability to work with all levels of management within all community stakeholder groups including foundations, nonprofit business of all sizes and life cycle stages, consultants, trainers and other service providers, product vendors, etc.
Detail-oriented, self-directed and organized, able to perform independently within a fast-paced environment
Knowledge and application of Microsoft Office Suite products such as Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint, the Internet, and database applications, and social media
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Bilingual skills a plus
Special Requirements and Physical Demands:
Position requires occasional travel regionally and occasionally throughout the US. Must have a reliable vehicle, and requires maintaining a valid Florida State driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and eligibility for coverage under any applicable agency insurance
Ability and willingness to participate in ongoing professional development activities to remain current in new developments in the field and to enhance skills
Requires safely lifting or moving up to 25 lbs on an occasional basis, for example movement of materials or texts
