Description:

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

This is very responsible specialized water pollution control plant operation work. Work involves responsibility for safe and effective production of sludge, dewatered sludge, incineration of sludge, or composting of sludge. Duties include operating sedimentation, thickening, dewatering, incinerating, or composting equipment and processes, and assisting in maintenance and repair. This position also has the responsibility for making difficult secondary, thickening, dewatering, incineration or composting equipment operation decisions in accordance with established procedures. This work requires that the employee have good knowledge, skill and ability in sedimentation, thickening, dewatering, incineration, or composting operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A high school diploma or the equivalent plus two years of experience in water pollution control plant operations, or an equivalent combination of education and qualifying experience substituting on a year-for-year basis. Must possess a valid driver's license and qualify during probation for a District license. Must have a valid Connecticut Class I Water Pollution Control Plant Operator's Certificate. Must be physically able to perform the work involved. The District reserves the right to determine physical ability.
