The Online Community Manager (OCM) will be responsible for Conduit, an online community for energy efficiency professionals in the Northwest. The OCM will be the driving force in planning and executing the launch of Conduit and overseeing the day to day operations including site moderation. In addition to marketing Conduit and its features to potential and existing site members, the OCM will provide assistance and training on a recurring basis. This position will periodically evaluate Conduit against objectives, and provide corresponding reports which include customized reporting metrics. The OCM will also be responsible for identifying and overseeing improvements and/or modifications to site functionality, working with NEEA staff as well as external vendors.

Duties:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Launch Planning and Execution: Plan and execute the launch of Conduit, including its marketing and communications strategies, provide training for NEEA staff and end users, develop site policy, create usage guidelines, and work with early site testers and pilot projects.

Community Champion: Be an advocate for Conduit within NEEA and among NEEA’s stakeholders. Develop and provide trainings while looking for opportunities to add value to the region through Conduit, give presentations, and actively encourage and support Conduit usage by utility staff in the Northwest region and within NEEA.

Day-to-day Community Operations: Monitor site usage, provide content/discussion moderation when needed, post editorial features, answer member inquiries, provide first level support.

Editorial: Work with NEEA staff to highlight appropriate content on the Conduit homepage, identify new sources of content, keep a pulse on Conduit members to ensure that the community content is fresh and relevant.

Tracking/Reporting: In concert with NEEA management, develop metrics and objectives for Conduit; gather, analyze, and report to management periodically on progress towards meeting the community’s objectives.

Continuous Improvement: Monitor site usage and gather user feedback, develop plans to alleviate issues, work with management to develop plans for new features, manage external vendors as required.

Qualifications:

SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS
• Must be proficient, innovative and multi-tasked professional who is able to perform in a fast-paced changing environment.
• High proficiency in navigating the Web 2.0 environment, accessing and using the Internet, HTML, and MS Office Suite.
• Advanced knowledge of online community management principles is a must.
• Good web analytics skills; able to look at a wide variety of data including web analytics, surveys, and direct customer feedback and determine necessary site/community changes; able to provide clear, compelling management reports.
• Strong project management and organizational skills required.
• Must be able to handle most problems/exceptions in an independent manner.
• Must be a customer focused individual with well-developed interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Current experience as an online manager preferred.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• A bachelor’s degree in business, communications, marketing or journalism
• At least 5 years of marketing or communication experience
• At least 2 years of online community management experience, including the launch of at least one online community
• Utility/energy industry experience a plus
• Experience in stakeholder-driven, mission-driven organizations a strong plus
