Description: | PRIMARY FUNCTION:
This position is responsible for installing personal computer hardware, software and networking equipment, diagnosing personal computers problems, answering user questions related to personal computers and coordinating repair services.
DIMENSIONS:
Number of personal computers in company: 300 +
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Installs personal computer hardware, software and networking equipment by following established industry and departmental practices and procedures.
• Test and debug personal computer hardware, software and networking problems by utilizing problem determination and resolution skills and following established departmental guidelines.
• Develop and maintain documentation related to personal computer hardware, software and networking equipment by following established departmental procedures.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and repair services by understanding individual user needs and working with vendor maintenance personnel.
• Assist users in efficient and effective use of personal computer technology by understanding their requirements and the capabilities and limitations of the technology.
• Answer user questions on personal computer software, hardware and networking equipment by understanding the user’s situation and being knowledgeable of the capabilities of the technology.
• Keep abreast of new technology and business methodologies available from vendors by attending seminars, reviewing trade periodicals and talking with peers in GPEC and other companies that can affect the operation of the company’s information systems.
• Track and report time, status and related issues on projects and other activities by following information systems department work management system procedures.
Specific job objectives and performance goals for an individual are developed yearly by the department manager and become part of the requirements for the position.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
High school graduate with two additional years of P.C. support experience, but an associate degree in information systems preferred.
Work Experience:
A minimum of 2 years directly related experience. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows 95/NT.
Physical: Lifting of objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
Other: Periodic travel to GPEC branch locations in all states. Some overnight travel is required.
Valid drivers license.
