Description: | | The Shipping Supervisor directly supervises and coordinates all activities in the shipping department to maximize productivity, ensure optimum service levels and employee safety. This includes planning, assigning and directing work, coordinating meetings, addressing product and employee complaints, and resolving problems. This person carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Companys policies, OSHA regulations and applicable laws while following all Systemax procedures and processes. | Duties: | General Responsibilities
Supervises all phases of shipping including shipping schedules, loading operations and material handling activities.
Ensures proper procedures are in place and being followed for production efficiency, quality of product, employee safety, and state and federal guidelines.
Works with plant management and other supervisory staff to assign, direct, review and monitor work of supervised staff to maximize productivity in the shipping department.
Establishes and monitors employees work schedules to meet needs of business.
Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
Maintains time and shipping records as required. Prepares reports for management review.
Ensures that the work area is clean and organized at all times.
Collaborates with other supervisors to coordinate activities of other departments.
Provides supervision of assigned employees in scheduling and daily activities, ensuring effective selection, retention, feedback, reports need for disciplinary action and performance management.
Trains and instructs employees in regard to work performed. Oversees instruction, implementation and enforcement of policies as they relate to employees.
Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating and delegating. Leads by example
Performs other duties as assigned.
| Qualifications: | High School Diploma or GED (some college preferred)
3 5 years of distribution supervisory experience
3 - 5 years of warehouse management systems experience
Experience with production management, inventory control and rectifying problems.
2 -3 ye4ars of experience with automated high speed conveyor systems
Experience with leading and following Quality/ Safety/Security Policies and Procedures.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent Problem-solving skills (listening, interpreting, diagnosing and rectifying problems)
Excellent multitasking, organization and prioritization skills with attention to detail.
Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines.
Ability to plan, organize and direct the activities of 25 to 30 employees.
Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs and effectively lead others through change.
Ability to select, train, coach, develop, engage, and retain a team of employees.
Ability to exercise independent decision making.
