Description:

AMS Pictures is seeking a Managing Director of Original Programming to oversee the operation in our Original Programming Vertical Division.

This position is responsible for growing our success with all types of documentaries and reality programs. Duties include program development, interacting with cable networks, recruiting for freelancers & employees and developing strategies to boost profits. Ultimately, they are responsible for the division pursing a profitable and sustainable course.

As a Managing Director, you will meet with members of the Executive Team to develop and meet company goals.

AMS Pictures is a Texas-based creative media company with studios in Dallas and Austin. An award-winning creative shop, with nearly thirty years’ experience designing turn-key communications solutions for some of the country’s best known agencies and brands. Master storytellers who use digital media tools to create unique experiences that engage, enlighten and entertain audiences.

Duties:

Division leadership.

  • Develops strategies for long-term division growth
  • Communicates overarching direction of division to the entire organization in order to get support
  • and participation needed to achieve goals
  • Provides leadership and accountability for companywide strategic initiatives
  • Spearheads major projects and initiatives
  • Develops creative plans, execution steps and provides high level project management

People development.

  • Identifies, selects and develops staff & freelancers needed to run division
  • Oversees on-boarding/firing and professional development process
  • Holds division team members accountable to performance measures

Business development.

  • Establishes external relationships with prospective networks, distributors and partners
  • Supports client facing team members to resolve project and client issues
  • Ensures team members provide rewarding internal and external client experiences
  • Provides creative oversight to team

Financial oversight.

  • Forecasts revenue and expense budgets for division
  • Achieves financial results
  • Generates and implements ideas to improve financial performance
  • Scales operational capacity and capabilities of division to meet growth needs

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or master’s degree and at least 10-15 years industry experience with an emphasis on producing/creative project management and four years in management. Applicants must have major cable network experience.

  • Evidence of strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated success in management role within the programming business
  • Have worked as EIC, EP or Programmer at a larger cable network
  • Proven success managing episodic programming
  • Able to create and run budgets for series and one offs – knowledge of accounting is critical
  • High level of understanding of the entire production process
  • Experience pitching reality programs in various formats
  • Extensive contacts in programming a plus
